Pop of Patriotic Color

I work full time for a PR & Marketing agency, luckily we don’t have to wear suits or full blown business attire everyday, but we can’t get too crazy, so I’m always trying to mix casual, professional, and fashionable by adding a pop of color or fun accessories to my outfits! The other day I had a nice combination, which left me feeling somewhat patriotic; check it out…

Baby blue gap sweater & grey slacks with pops of red πŸ™‚ (I also match our garbage can... lol)
Red snakeskin watch with small diamond details, and a red woven belt.
These cutesy, victorian, girly Manolo Blahnik heels that my boss snagged for me at a tent sale πŸ™‚
The heel is super short and they're incredibly comfortable πŸ™‚
Simple hair and makeup (obviously I had time to do my hair this morning ;)), my Bare Minerals READY eye shadow palette has been my go to lately. And of course...pink lips! πŸ˜‰
Always have to end with a shot of the mani! I've been rocking a Gelish french manicure all week πŸ˜‰

How do you try to mix fun & color into your work wardrobe?

Behind the Scenes of the “I’m On” Music Video

If you follow me on Twitter or have read some of my previous blog posts, you may have noticed me talk about my boyfriend, Michael Minelli here and there. For those who don’t know, he is an aspiring musician!

Mike & I at one of his shows πŸ™‚

He has quite the resume under his belt, he’s opened for some huge bands and artists, and was recently featured on PerezHilton for his cover of Katy Perry’s “Part of Me“.

Love that Perez finds my man seksiiii πŸ˜‰

He has accomplished so much, and continues to work very, very hard…he inspires me everyday!

Now let it be known… he and I are completely different. Literally opposites. He is an R & B, Rap, & Hip-hop die hard, and I pretend that my life is narrated by country songs (it’s pretty easy to figure the rest out)… but in the strangest way, we’re exactly the same. We have the same morals, goals, and dreams, we try be one anothers backbone, and it helps to keep us on the same page. πŸ™‚

I like to be as supportive as possible, and take advantage of opportunities to be present at his shows, shoots, and everything in between. Recently he was featured on a track with some talented CT artists- Ricky Tan, Jitta on the Track, Jigz the Flyer, and Joey Franchize. I decided to tag along to the video shoot, and thought it’d be fun to make a post about it. So I spent the day taking pictures, tweeting, and of course, being a cheerleader…it was a fun day! Check out the pictures and final video below!

They shot everything at a local skate park.
Ricky Tan shooting his scene.
All of the guys getting down! The man in the middle with the huge beard worked at the park and made a few cameos! πŸ˜‰
Mike had some of his boys come out to be in his shots- Ron, Mike, Shelly, and Austin .
What a fashion statement huh? I love Shelly, and the fact that his sneakers have tails LOL

All of the guys again. I'm a new Joey Franchize (in the dolphin sweatshirt) fan! He's a DJ on Hot 93.7 and such a nice guy! πŸ™‚

We had a fun day, all of these guys are so talented! I became a huge fan of this song after hearing it on repeat for hours during the shoot ;)! Β The video came out really great…check it out below and make sure you watch till the end to see Mike’s verse! πŸ˜‰

No time to do your hair? Try a quick top knot/bun!

There are so many different ways to create a top knot or bun, but this one is my go-to because it literally takes seconds to create, and is a great look for day old, unwashed hair. I cannot tell you how many late mornings this bun has saved me from! All you’ll need is 1 hair tie, some bobby pins and hairspray.

(I took these pictures with clean hair, so my bun is not as tight as it normally would be, but you’ll get the point) πŸ˜‰

Enjoy this simple tutorial!

Step 1: Gather all of your hair at the top of your crown. Pull tightly!

Step 2: Using the hand you usually don’t tie your hair with- dig your first four fingers into the hair in front of the ponytail and create a fist without letting up your grip.

Step 3: Using your free hand, tie an elastic around the ponytail without pulling the hair all the way through…creating a bun.

Step 4: Be sure to keep it tight!

Step 5: You should now have a bun similar to this –>

Step 6: Gather stray hairs and tuck underneath bun with bobby pins. If the bun feels loose you can pin the hair on the bottom side of the bun to the top of your head.

Step 7: Here’s what the top on the bun should look like…

Step 8: Spray everything with hairspray and secure fly aways with a bobby pin.

And Ta-da! Smile, because you have a cute bun that took minutes to create! Sometimes I’ll add a flower or fun clip to accent.

Do you have a go-to top knot or bun that you regularly wear? I’d love to hear how you create yours. Share in the comments below! πŸ™‚

Pucker Up! Pretty Pink Lips

I love makeup as much as the next girl, but I’ve never been one to spend a lot of money for it…especially when it comes to trends.

Right now I am loving bright pink lips! Over the past few weeks I’ve picked up four different lip sticks/stains/balms and glosses…all available in nearly every drugstore, and all under $15! Check out my new favorites…

(Left to right) NYC Liquid LipShine, Soft Lips Tinted Lip Balm, COVERGIRL Lipslicks, and COVERGIRL Outlast Lip Color

1)

COVERGIRL LipSlicks Lip Gloss "Princess 110" ($5.99 at my local grocery store)
It appears much more sheer on my lips than I thought it would, I would suggest using it over a darker pink lipstick if you want it to pop- I think it's too light to stand on it's own, but a great product for every day use or when lounging.

2)

NYC Liquid Lip Shine "Fashion Avenue Fuchsia 579" ($2.99 at CVS)
I LOVE this gloss, it smells like cake or something of the sort, SO yummy. Its a great gloss, and is dark enough to stand on it's own...I think it's a tad darker in person...this picture doesn't really do it justice.

3)

Soft Lips Tinted Lip Balm "Pearl" ($3.99 at Walmart)
This lip balm wears so light...almost white, which is too light for me. However, I have used it over a red lipstick and that combination creates a phenomenal shimmery pink color.

4)

COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Lip Color "Rose Pearl 547" ($12.49 at CVS)
I'm a huge fan of the Outlast Lip products, I swear they really do last and have a huge selection of colors. This pink is my favorite product out of every one in this post! I'm not sure why the picture appears red/orange...but the pink color is absolutely perfect.

Even Khloe Kardashian is rocking the hot pink lips!

I snapped this picture of Khloe on WWHL Sunday night. I was loving her hair/makeup/outfit- she looked amazing! πŸ™‚

TASTE by SPELLBOUND

I am so excited about this post for a variety of reasons. First off… does anyone listen to the Elvis Duran show in the morning? I tune in on my way to work every single day, and it really is the most entertaining program on the radio, I love starting my mornings with that crew!

Back in December or so everyone on the show was tasting and raving about these amazing cupcakes and truffles! They mentioned that she sold her truffles online and I was dying to check them out. Once at a computer, I immediately found her website and looked through all of the delicious treats she had available. I hate to admit that I never ended up ordering any… but was thrilled when I heard she was opening up a shop in Avon, CT…which happened to be very close to where I currently live.

I’d been following Miriam, the owner/designer/baker extrordinaire on Twitter and Facebook for a while now and have been completely blown away by the legitimate food porn that she creates and posts on a daily basis.

Taste by Spellbound has officially been opened for less than a month, and I finally made the trip to check it out!

I must say, I truly admire Miriam for a number of reasons…

1- She has a kick a** style. Holy moly, this girl has such a unique but elegant/feminine look…not to mention she has mastered the perfect top knot/ bun!

2-She is so ambitious, a risk taker, and go-getter.

3- She is beyond talented. Let her desserts speak for themselves…you Β can honestly tell how amazing they are just by looking at them.

We picked up a little bit of everything
TJ's Carrot Cake. I honestly don't even like Carrot Cake- but I have heard so many people rave about this particular cake that I had to try...and oh my goodness, I've officially been converted! The cake was so moist and the icing was incredible, it was a stellar combination and I'm proud to say this was the first piece of carrot cake (in my life) that I honestly enjoyed!
We had to sample some truffles! Dark chocolate, carrot cake, and red velvet. They were all just as delicious but the dark chocolate was my absolute favorite!
Mike was so excited about the red velvet truffle- it's one of his favorite flavors.
Now that I was a carrot cake lover, I couldn't wait to try the carrot truffle! (Excuse the dead flowers in our apartment lol)
Yummy!!
And a peek at the dark chocolate..for good measure πŸ˜‰ (Ahh Mike needs a manicure...)
Chocolate chip & Peanut Butter Chocolate chip cookies!
Healthy lemon blueberry scone made with ViSalus Vi-Shape shake mix. This was the perfect breakfast this morning πŸ™‚
Mike was so obsessed with this strawberry cinnamon cupcake, he swears it was the best he's ever had...I took a bite and I can't disagree...that icing is something else! I can't wait to try some other flavors πŸ™‚
Miriam & I in front of the gorgeous butterfly wall in her studio. She was such a sweet girl, and put up with my millions of questions πŸ˜‰

I was so glad to finally visit this charming place! Everything was truly delicious and I will surely be back! (I’m dying to get my hands on one of her famous salted caramel cupcakes!)

If you are in Connecticut and looking for some delicious desserts…THIS is the place to go!
