Quick Trick for Fuller Lips

I lucked out with certain physical qualities, but one that I was totally jipped on were my lips! I have super small lips, so I am always up for trying everything and anything to make them look bigger.

I’ve tried so many plumpers, serums, and tricks- everything from DuWop Lip Venom to staining my lips with red jello powder and hot sauce, to brushing them with a tooth brush to biting them until they swell…FYI- none of these were very effective.

So, I usually resort to makeup! Here is my little trick for making my lips look fuller…

Start with a lip liner, lip stick, chap stick and lip gloss– (ANY brands will work fine, just be sure that the colors are compatible. Ex- don’t use a burgundy lip liner with a hot pink lip stick):

I used an NYC lip liner pencil 954A, Maybelline lip stick Roseberry A97, Blistex Deep Renewal chap stick and NARS Turkish Delight gloss. –>

Here are my nakey lips 😉

Step 1: Apply your liner around perimeter of lips. I extend the line a bit above the actual lip to make them appear larger.

Step 2: Fill in lips with liner pencil and dab with lip stick.

Step 3: Apply chap stick over color. (I find that chap stick helps to lock the color in and make it last longer)

Step 4: Dab a bit of gloss in the center of your top and bottom lip only (this will help the lips appear larger).

Step 5: Rub the dabs of lip gloss together, and voila!

Can you a tell a difference?

I’ll definitely be getting some collagen injections one of these days, but for now this works just fine. What are your favorite lip plumping tricks? I’d love to hear them!

Update on my New Years Resolutions (1 month down)

Happy February everyone! I apologize for not blogging all week, I’ve been super busy, and a little under the weather- but I’m back 🙂

I decided that at the beginning of each month, I would go through my New Years Resolutions and note how well, or how poorly I’ve been maintaining them. I think it’s a good way to keep myself in check when it comes to sticking to my goals. So here we go:

1: Stop Cursing. Unfortunately, this one has been really difficult for me. I have been making the effort, but sometimes it just slips. However, each time I slip I do catch myself and note how horribly I am at sticking to this resolution. LOL…  It’s a work in progress.

2: Exercise regularly. This has been pretty good! I’ve definitely been making a conscious effort to get some sort of physical activity into each day. Some days are better than others, and yes I have skipped a few here and there, but overall I’m proud of myself for the increased physical activity.

3: Eat healthier. This may be my best resolution! I’ve been eating super healthy M-F. I’ve been allowing myself to cheat on the weekends,  but as the weekends go by I find that I am not as eager to eat junk because I really have noticed a difference in the way my body feels.

I've been making much healthier lunches and eating SO much fruit! Yumm 🙂

4: Stop spending so much money and start saving more. I definitely have! I try not to spend any money during the week on “things” (random trips to CVS, Marshalls, Target, etc.) I do allow myself to spend if going out for an occasion or on groceries. I keep adding to my want list  and chip away at it on the weekends or wait until I absolutely need something. I’ve also made the effort to force myself to put money aside from each paycheck-I started looking at it as another bill.

5: Make an effort to spend more time with friends: So far so good! This month, I met my best girls from home for dinner, as well as my Kappas- (the class I was initiated with in my sorority). We’re all so busy and live across the state, but by planning ahead, we’ve all been able to follow through with plans. 🙂

6: Spend more time reading. I wish I could say I was doing this! Honestly, I don’t think I picked up a book for more than an hour this month. I’ve read a ton of magazines….but I don’t really think those count. This month I’ll need to work on upping my literature.

7: No more soda. Hell, my name is Amanda and I am soda-free. Not a sip. 🙂

Water-all day everyday 🙂

8: Eat out less and cook more. Done and done! I pack a healthy lunch for work everyday, and try to cook dinner M-F. It helps me to save money during the week and eat healthier- so by doing this I am contributing to two of my other resolutions as well!

And of course, one of my resolutions was to start and maintain a blog. I think I’ve been doing a decent job. I’ve tried to make an effort to post every night, but some days are just far too busy. I think this will be by 26th or 27th post? So that’s not too bad out of 31 days!

Now, don’t pin me for a hater, but am I the only one who didn’t like Ashlee Simpsons get-up? I think people were raving so much because for once she didn’t look like she just rolled out of bed and threw on an outfit  that came out of her boyfriends hamper.

Oh how I wish I were one of those girls who was perfectly content with carrying a small handbag consisting of my wallet, keys and cell phone. But I’m not, I am the girl who get’s anxiety when I have to choose which precious items to bring in a small clutch on a night out.

I don’t understand how a woman can feel comfortable leaving the house without certain “just in case” items. While organizing my purse last week, I decided to lay everything out and try to downsize. Needless to say, I wasn’t terribly successful.

After de-cluttering I was left with the following:

Normally, carrying this many items in one bag would be a messy nightmare, but lucky for me, I have a FABULOUS as seen on TV product that is actually super practical and 100% effective. The Kangaroo Keeper!

It’s so perfect for any purse, particularly a bag with no structure.

What is your piece of “naked-without” jewelry?

Many girls have something that when they forget to put on they feel “naked-without”. My Mom always said it was her earrings, some have to be wearing a necklace…me? I have a single gold band ring that I wear on my right index finger. I couldn’t tell you where I got it, I honestly don’t even like it- but I’ve have had it on that finger since 2002 or so, and I never, never, never take it off, no matter where I’m going.

It’s been on for so long that I now have a permanent indent/tan line on my index finger.

I feel so weird when this ring is removed for even a second. I literally feel naked without it!
