Thanksgiving EVE 2012

Thanksgiving Eve is the biggest bar night of the year, and in my small hometown everyone finds themselves at the local bar where it’s basically one big high school reunion. I’ve been a few times but it’s the more or less same experience every year…this year I did something a little different.

My Uncle Don (my godfather), is somewhat of a local legend at Bobby Valentines in Stamford, CT – years ago he used to run an awesome karaoke show every week. This year Bobby asked if he would be interested in hosting their Thanksgiving Eve karaoke, and he agreed. My cousins, aunts, uncles, brother, parents and best friend all headed out to Stamford Wednesday night for some karaoke fun! —>

My cousins girlfriend did this phenomenal Adele rendition- she was so good, the girl can seriously sing!!!
The boys did awesome!
..they really got into it LOL
I love this girl!!
A little in-seat dancing? Why not 😉
Me & my best <3

One woman got up to sing that working at the car wash song & asked Erin, my Mom and I to be her backup dancers –  needless to say, we got up & did a great job washing the cars – incriminating video is floating around somewhere LOL!

Afterwards I went home to spend some girl time with my under 21 sister who never fails to whip out her camera phone …

When you come home late at night, take down your hair & your little sister takes awkward photos of you making a duck face LOL

Regardless, I had SO much fun on Thanksgiving Eve, the most fun I’ve had in a while. When you combine family, friends, a few yummy drinks & some good, clean fun – there’s really nothing better. 🙂

What did you all do on Thanksgiving Eve?

Happy Thanksgiving XO

Hi loves!

I just wanted to take a moment to wish you all a very Happy Thanksgiving! I hope that everyone is spending the day with those that they love, whether they’re in your company or on your mind.

Here are a few things that we should all think about always, but today in particular….

I’m Blue a dab a dee dab a da :)

First things first, regarding the title of the post – who remembers that song?! I definitely jammed out to Eiffel 65’s Blu Da Ba Dee on my NOW 4 CD in 2000 –

So many faves!

How about a little refresher? Take a listen, you know you want to! 😉

China Glaze Dorothy Who?

One coat of Color Club + 2 coats of China Glaze created the perfect combo!

Natural light

Look 2:

I like both combinations for different reasons, the China Glaze glitter was a lot of fun! Has anyone else been wearing a shade of blue polish lately?

Best Dressed at the 2012 AMA’s

I tuned into the 40th Annual American Music Awards on Sunday night for obvious reasons- the fashion!

There was an overwhelming amount of golds, nudes, and sequins on the carpet this year & I loved it!

Here were my picks for the best dressed of the night:

Gotta give credit to Carly Rae Jepsen! I love this dress – she looks so simple & elegant…plus, I’m a sucker for sequins 🙂
Heidi Klum is always stunning, but she is truly radiant in gold! This dress reminds of a spiced up version of Britney’s black lace mini at the VMA’s circa 2001. Credit
One of my favorite Taylor Swift dresses to date! I adore everything about this look! Make up, hair, shoes – adore! Credit.
I think it’s impossible for me NOT to include Carrie Underwood on a Best Dressed list. She never fails to impress – I’ve said it a bajillion times – human perfection! Credit.
Jenny McCarthy is one hot mama!! I love this look! Credit.
Kelly Rowland always impresses as well! She looked fabulous in this mini! Credit.
Normally, Nicki Minaj confuses the life out of me when it comes to her red carpet appearances – I’m always trying to figure out what message she is attempting to send with her out of the ordinary looks – but at the AMA’s this year, she actually looked adorably put together. This lime green / yellow Monique Lhuillier gown was very flattering to her figure – I must say…love it :). Credit.

Who do you think had the best Red Carpet look at the AMA’s this year?

Experimenting with Nail Shapes

When it comes to manicures, I think that I am very traditional. I never get too crazy with my nails…I’m not afraid of bright or wild colors color, but they need to be tasteful. Clean, simple, and classy is the route I usually take.

Lately, I’ve been mixing things up a bit, not so much with color and design, but with shape!

You’re used to seeing me posting my square / squoval nails all over the place, but I’ve been working to achieve the stiletto look. I’m trying to create a more appealing, work-appropriate version of the super long, weapon-like shape:

Eek! These actually aren’t too harsh compared to some others out there! Credit

I began this nail journey last week, it took 3 brand new nail files to finally get rid of my square shape! My nails started out very oval, and not so stiletto. It’s funny to think how drastic of a change this felt!

As they grew, I began rounding them off more & more…

Over the weekend, I sharpened them up even more…and I changed the color to this great blue shade. It was a Confetti polish  “Blue Bombshell”.

Before it was time to go back to work on Monday, I re-painted my nails a deep burgundy:

You can tell how far they’ve come & how much more they have to go, but I must say that they are totally growing on me! I can’t wait to for them to get a little bit longer so I can really achieve the look.

What do you think of stiletto nails? Have you ever stepped out of your comfort zone when it comes to nail shape? What style are you usually rocking? Let me know 🙂
