The 90’s are baaaack, and to be honest, I’m cool with it… that decade was pretty good to me! 90sOOTD

Quick PSA – I’m going to take a little break from WIWTW. It had a great run, but I think it’s time to make room for some more original content.  With that said, I haven’t done a Mix + Max post in months! So when I got the itch to style a 90’s inspired outfit, I figured it would be the perfect time to use some of the articles + accessories that I already had in my wardrobe to do so. 🙂

Nothing too crazy, just a casual look, sprinkled with a hint of the 90’s.

I have to share this photo fail. It made me laugh so hard! If you know me, you know I'm scared of the wind. Particularly of things falling on me...like branches. It was SO windy when we were snapping these pics, I was convinced something was going to come down! LOL
I have to share this outtake. It made me laugh so hard! If you know me, you know I’m scared of the wind. Well, more specifically, I’m terrified of having things over my head…and falling on me…like icicles, roofs, parking garages…branches! [ONLY because it’s happened before!!] It was SO windy when we were snapping these pics, I was convinced the tree was going to come down! LOL

First things first, what screams 90’s more than a choker?! Unfortunately, my choker collection is long gone, so I decided to DIY one! I made it with a piece of leftover trim that I was able to cut to size + secure with some velcro tape!

Want to make your own? Any kind of fabric, headband, string or shoelace will do the trick! 🙂

The high neck top I bought as a backup for my Ariana Grande Halloween costume, but never wore! The Brandy Melville cardigan totally has the slouchy 90’s thing going on + is perfect for the in-between season weather we’re currently having in CT.  My tote was a gift from my sister!  I linked a dupe from Forever 21 for ya. 😉 Sandals are Lucky Brand + a couple seasons old, but I attached a similar pair! The dark smokey eye was created with my new favorite NYX Adorable palette.  And of course, the LIPS! My brother’s girlfriend recently gave me one of Kylie Jenner’s lip kits! I have to admit…the stuff is pretty darn good! [TIP: it’s super hard to remove, but baby oil does the trick]!

This look took me a little bit out of my comfort zone – and not even the clothes! It’s crazy what makeup + accessories will do for ya! The dark lips + choker definitely made me feel edgier than normal, but it was a fun outfit to wear for the day.  🙂

  1. You look stunning as always love!! Love this look!!! Totally laughed at the tree falling down picture! I never thought of that. Next time I am under a tree I will think of you haha!

    • Aw thank you! So many 90’s trends are making their way back, but it’s hard to figure out which to embrace, how to make them suitable for 2016, and also wearable for everyday! It’s fun to play around! Thanks for reading, love! XO 🙂

  2. Smart DIY! I love this look, especially the lips. I want to try on of her lip kits, but I wanted an honest, unbiased review. If you say they’re good, then I think they’re worth a try. Now to decide which color!

    • I’ve only tried this one shade — it definitely applies very smooth/evenly! You only need one coat, layering isn’t really an option. I wore it for most of the day + it held up, but food/drink does remove some from the middle – luckily, the gloss is easy to use for touchups. I read about all of the problems with her first batch, but I don’t really have any complaints about this one. My sister tries to steal it every chance she gets lol. She really loves it + has had similar feedback too! Removing was a pain — baby oil took it right off though! Curious to try some of the other colors.

  3. So cute!! I love that the 90’s themes are coming back! I totally understand having an unusual fear, though, I have plenty of those. Kind of embarrassed to admit that I’ve jumped from my own shadow before. Lol. I’m gonna miss these posts, but am also looking forward to seeing what you have planned! 🙂

    • Hahah aw! I have so many super random fears. I could seriously write an entire blog about them all! lol And yay for the 90’s! I like that they’re coming back a with a little more style too! 🙂

    • Aw thank you so much!! The choker was too easy! You can use anything though. TBH, if I had a black shoelace I would have just used that! You can wrap it around your neck a couple of times and tuck it into itself without even having to tie a knot/bow!
