It’s obvious that not all nailpolish is created equal, however, I do believe that with proper nail care, a good base & top coat, and the right application – you can achieve a flawless manicure with any polish under the sun. With that said, I do play favorites sometimes. 😉 I wanted to share what I consider to be not only one of the best drugstore polishes, but one of the best of all time.
If you’ve followed this blog or my Instagram account for a while, you may already have an inkling as to which line of polish I’m talking about…
Sally Hansen!
They have a few different collections; the Color Therapy, Miracle Gel, Complete Salon Manicure, Insta-Dri, and Hard as Nails Xtreme Wear – honestly, they’re all pretty wonderful, but the first three are my absolute favorites and I’ll tell you why.
- The brush. The brush of the Color Therapy, Miracle Gel, and Complete Salon Manicure is wide! Personally, I love a wide polish brush. I find it much easier to work with and the best tool for achieving a perfectly even mani!
- The color selection. The shade options are pretty extensive and continuously expanding. They are always adding new polishes – all of which are unique and unlike anything else I see on the shelves.
- The long wear. This is a big one! The polish will last you, they all have impressive wear time, but I actually find the Complete Salon Manicure to be the best. Even over the Miracle Gel! I’ve got to give this formula the credit it deserves. It’s a must try!
- The shelf life. I’m not positive what the appropriate lifetime for a bottle of polish is (I’ve heard 2 years) but my Sally polishes are the only ones that will last me and wear just as well as the day I got them (I’ve had some bottles for 8 years! TMI?!) It’s very rare for a polish to last that long without the formula getting too thick or gooey. Major props to Sally Hansen for making a really incredible product.
Take a peek at some of my favorite Sally manis! 🙂

Thank you! I do love Essie too! But Sally polishes are definitely my fave!! 🙂 XO
Do you do those nails yourself? They look amazing! I have to get mine professionally done or they look awful!
Thank you! I do! I’m super picky about my nails, it just takes a little practice, I swear anyone can do them themselves 🙂
I’m such a nail polish snob and I usually stick to OPI or Essie, but I have picked up a few Sally Hansen shades lately. I usually end up on the nail polish isle when I’m at Walgreens and I somehow always end up with a new shade, usually from this brand. I love your mani posts and pics. Keep them coming!
Thanks Hannah!! I do love the OPI/Essie life as well – Sally polishes just always seem to wear best on me! But hey, when it comes to nail polish there’s really no discriminating. And same goes for you, I love your mani posts! XO
Oh, my gosh, until this post, I didn’t even realize how many Sally Hansen polishes I have! I love Sally Hansen, and I also love the wide brush.
Haha!! As I was rounding up photos, I didn’t even really realize it either! YAY for all the Sally love. Isn’t the wide brush the best!? :):):) XO
Honestly, I stick to professional brands because as a licensed cosmetologist I can get them for a great price. So, they actually end up cheaper than most drugstore polishes. I’ve been wanting to try more of the Miracle Gel line, though. I bought one last year after you recommended it but it’s a bold color so I don’t grab for it much. I may watch for a coupon or sale and get another color. My nails are weak and split often. But I love painting my nails so I won’t stop! 🙂
Ahh the perks of being a professional! A d I know, the Sally polishes are a bit pricey for drugstore, but they just wear and last so well for me! My nails are weak and prone to peeling as well, I’m still trying to figure out the best way to combat that. Until then, can’t stop, won’t stop! 😉 Happy polishing!! XOXO
Hi, I love all your shades. Could you tell me which one you are wearing in the video you did about the Clinique take the day off cleansing balm. I just love this shade. Thanks
