After a few weeks off, What I Wore This Week is back for the New Year! I really do love this series and these posts are some of the most popular on my blog, so I’m going to do my best to keep up with them all year. 🙂
If you follow me on Instagram, I recently shared and invited anyone with interest to participate in my January Style Challenge! I’m doing my best to wear a different outfit every single day this month without repeating any pieces (other than shoes).
I spent a lot of time cleaning and organizing my closet at the end of 2017, but still feel like there are quite a few items that haven’t been worn. I’m hoping this challenge will encourage me to utilize more of my wardrobe, rediscover some old favorites, and maybe toss a few pieces I come to realize I don’t actually love.
…Here we go, 2018!!
Monday, January 1, 2018. I bought this sweatshirt on Groopdealz weeks ago and love it! So much so, I included it in my 2017 Favorites! I’ve been wearing it at least once per week so I’m slightly bummed I already wore it on Day 1. Luckily, my go-to Classic Short UGG’s are allowed to make a few more appearances. 😉
Tuesday, January 2, 2018. I purposely chose to wear this sweater early on because I know it hasn’t come out of my closet in maybe 2 years. I think I’m going to hang onto it for now, but I’m definitely going to be donating/selling these jeans! I realized that I really didn’t like the way that they fit. The flat black riding boots were a Black Friday purchase and such a great find — they’re still for sale! (PS: Tutorial for this topknot is on my YouTube channel!)
Wednesday, January 3, 2018. I helped my boyfriend clean out his closet before the New Year and stole this flannel for myself (a bit counter productive, I suppose), but I LOVE it! It’s Forever 21 Men, perfectly oversized, super comfortable, and ain’t goin’ nowhere! 😉 This exact shirt is no longer available but this one looks just as cozy. And again, no shame in my UGG game. Thursday, January 4, 2018. This was the day the Bomb Cyclone hit, like most people… I didn’t leave the house. I wore my Burt’s Bee’s Baby Fair Isle Pajama pants with a sweater from Ann Taylor, a pair of pink butter socks, and these jumbo sheepskin slippers that my parents got me in Germany. It was a super low-key day, and Lily was a bit freaked out by the blizzard; she requested to be held 24/7…hence her appearance!
Friday, January 5, 2018. I love, love, love this bell sleeved turtleneck! The sleeves are so fun and the ruffled neck is cute to boot! I found it at Primark and wish I could link it, but they don’t sell anything online (this one and this one are of similar style though). These high-rise jeans are my go-to and these chunky heeled boots are a Fall/Winter wardrobe staple!
I’m excited to have WIWTW up and running again — this January style challenge has given me a little bit of motivation to mix things up! If you feel like you have a ton of clothes you don’t wear, you should participate too! Even if it’s just for a week; try to wear some of the pieces you normally don’t reach for! Share one or all of the looks in a blog post or on IG and tag me or leave a link below so I can see.
I hope the first week of the New Year treated you all very well! I’m excited to see what’s in store for all of us in 2018!
XOXO
I LOVE this series that you do so much! I need to participate… but in my own way, since I don’t have enough clothes to do this specifically. Ha, ha. My goal this year is to add a new item or two every month, because my wardrobe is severely lacking! I used to have a ton of clothes before I had kids, but now that I’m mostly a stay-at-home mom (and my body changed a bit), I just don’t have many options. So maybe I could do an outfit of the week for now and try to expand my wardrobe as I go! 🙂
I love that idea! It sounds like it’d be a really helpful challenge for you. It’s crazy how our closet never seems just right. We either have too much, too little, too many things we don’t like, or not enough of the things that we do. Here’s to all of us building perfect working wardrobes this year! XOXO
