Finding a skincare routine that works for you can be a long and grueling process. It takes a lot of trial + error…and then some more trial + error. Even if you concoct a regimen that seems to work, you’re not necessarily off the hook when it comes to the occasional breakout.

For me, having the right spot treating products for unwelcome face guests is key. I like to have:

1 – Something to use before they arrive
2 – Something to calm them down when they surface
3 – Something to make sure that their visit does not leave a lasting impression

There are a handful of products that I use regularly and have repurchased over the years, but there are also a few newbies that I’ve added to my arsenal. Today, I want to share them all with you!

PREVENTING + SPOT TREATING PIMPLES

It doesn’t get any better than Mario Badescu. I have raved about his products for years, and I will continue to sing their praises because they truly do work! His buffering and drying lotions perform miracles when it’s time to treat a blemish. The buffering lotion is technically a spot treatment, but I’ll shake that bottle up and slather it all over my face if I feel like my skin is about to erupt. I’ll then follow up with the drying lotion to spot treat!

FADING DARK SPOTS + ACNE SCARS

A blemish that leaves its mark can be more frustrating than the actual blemish itself. I’ve had a bad acne scar last for nearly 2 years on my face! It was only a few months ago that I discovered a product that has significantly helped to even out my skin tone and that miracle product is the Aveeno Positively Radiant Targeted Tone Corrector. I apply a bit of this to my dark spots every morning and evening (when I remember) and it helps them to slowly fade away. When I began using it, I started to see results in less than a week!

I recently walked through my entire night time skincare routine on YouTube and chatted a little bit more about the products mentioned above. One of my favorite ways to treat my skin is with masks. I tested the GLAMGLOW Gravity Mud Mask in the video and am actually giving one away on my channel! Check it out and enter to win here:

I really enjoy sharing my favorite product, but I also like to know what works well for you! I certainly haven’t tried everything out there, so your recommendations are always appreciated! Share some of your skincare favorites below. 🙂

XOXO

  1. I need to try that tone corrector! I had a seemingly endless patch of bad breakouts the past couple months and they definitely left ugly marks. I’ve been using all different things that work slowly over time but for the whole face so I like that idea that this is more targeted.

    • It sounds like you’re a perfect candidate, you should definitely try it out! It’s reasonably priced and one bottle will last you a while. I also like that you can apply it both morning and night. Let me know if you pick it up and test it out! 🙂

  2. Hi, would the Aveeno Dark Spot work under my chin? I seem to have developed a dark spot under my chin from tweezing. I have been applying Vit E, but wondering if this would help as well?

    • Hmm, possibly! I don’t have any personal experience with dark spots related to tweezing, but if it’s scar-like it may be worth a shot!
