Secret Blogger Swap Reveal!

I was so excited to participate in my first blogger swap this past week! Huge thank you to Danielle over at Framed Frosting for setting everything up πŸ™‚

The blogger that I was assigned to was Sami! She blogs at Sami’s Shenanigans and seems like such a sweet girl, we actually have a lot in common (including a chihuahua names Lily LOL) which made shopping for her even more fun! She wrote a sweet reveal post today about everything I sent to her, I’m so glad she liked what I picked out- make your way over to her blog to see! πŸ™‚

After reading Sami’s reveal post, I see that she sent a package to Ashley who blogs at The Sweet Life who happened to be the lovely lady who sent a package to ME! How ironic is that?

I really loved what Ashley sent to me, check out everything in the big reveal below …

Sweet card πŸ™‚
Everything was wrapped in this adorable pink & silver polka-dot paper!
The first things I opened were an EOS Strawberry Sorbet lip balm (which I actually ALMOST bought the other day!) and some adorable Goody hair ties with a metal embellishment that can double as bracelets! I had never seen these, but I love multi-functional products πŸ™‚
I mentioned that I’m always looking for healthy snacks and Ashley packed her favorite Lemon Zest Luna Bar-believe it or not, I have never had a Luna Bar (!) so I’m super excited to try it πŸ™‚
My favorite part of the package! Nail supplies :):) She sent me a file with a case- these are genius, I had one years ago, but never replaced it. I’m so excited that my phone will no longer get scratched up in my bag. The cuticle remover is clutch, and the orange polish is perfect for summer! *The funny thing is that I sent Sami a coral polish, and she sent Ashley one as well! We can all rock the same mani now πŸ™‚

I had a lot of fun participating in the swap- it was a great first experience, and I hope to do another in the future!

Have you ever participated in a blogger swap? What was the best thing you received?

Pop of Patriotic Color

I work full time for a PR & Marketing agency, luckily we don’t have to wear suits or full blown business attire everyday, but we can’t get too crazy, so I’m always trying to mix casual, professional, and fashionable by adding a pop of color or fun accessories to my outfits! The other day I had a nice combination, which left me feeling somewhat patriotic; check it out…

Baby blue gap sweater & grey slacks with pops of red πŸ™‚ (I also match our garbage can... lol)
Red snakeskin watch with small diamond details, and a red woven belt.
These cutesy, victorian, girly Manolo Blahnik heels that my boss snagged for me at a tent sale πŸ™‚
The heel is super short and they're incredibly comfortable πŸ™‚
Simple hair and makeup (obviously I had time to do my hair this morning ;)), my Bare Minerals READY eye shadow palette has been my go to lately. And of lips! πŸ˜‰
Always have to end with a shot of the mani! I've been rocking a Gelish french manicure all week πŸ˜‰

How do you try to mix fun & color into your work wardrobe?

No time to do your hair? Try a quick top knot/bun!

There are so many different ways to create a top knot or bun, but this one is my go-to because it literally takes seconds to create, and is a great look for day old, unwashed hair. I cannot tell you how many late mornings this bun has saved me from! All you’ll need is 1 hair tie, some bobby pins and hairspray.

(I took these pictures with clean hair, so my bun is not as tight as it normally would be, but you’ll get the point) πŸ˜‰

Enjoy this simple tutorial!

Step 1: Gather all of your hair at the top of your crown. Pull tightly!

Step 2: Using the hand you usually don’t tie your hair with- dig your first four fingers into the hair in front of the ponytail and create a fist without letting up your grip.

Step 3: Using your free hand, tie an elastic around the ponytail without pulling the hair all the way through…creating a bun.

Step 4: Be sure to keep it tight!

Step 5: You should now have a bun similar to this –>

Step 6: Gather stray hairs and tuck underneath bun with bobby pins. If the bun feels loose you can pin the hair on the bottom side of the bun to the top of your head.

Step 7: Here’s what the top on the bun should look like…

Step 8: Spray everything with hairspray and secure fly aways with a bobby pin.

And Ta-da! Smile, because you have a cute bun that took minutes to create! Sometimes I’ll add a flower or fun clip to accent.

Do you have a go-to top knot or bun that you regularly wear? I’d love to hear how you create yours. Share in the comments below! πŸ™‚

2012 ACM Best Dressed

Another awards show, another chance to oogle the amazing red carpet dresses! I’m a huge country music fan, I think that as a whole, country artists are the classiest, sweetest breed of musicians…and it refelcts in their attire.

I love that they all put in the effort to look fashionable, respectable, and professional at awards shows that are based around adkowledging them, and their music.Β It’s refreshing to see an awards show that has not turned into a mockery/Halloween party. (Cough, cough…the Grammys)

The Academy of Country Music Awards did not disappoint this year!

Here are my picks for best dressed…

(Photo credit OMG!Yahoo) Jake Owens beautiful girlfriend, Lacey Buchanan. She's not even an artist, but've got to give credit where credit is due! She looked amazing at the ACMs!
(Photo credit OMG!Yahoo) Taylor Swift is seriously stepping up her fashion game! She looked so chic and mature in this J. Mendel white column gown!
(Photo credit OMG!Yahoo) The amazing Jennifer Nettles of Sugarland wins my vote because she brought some Spring color to the carpet! She looks amazing in this pink chiffon and lace dress...and the sparkly yellow empire belt makes it that much more girly and fun πŸ™‚

One more for good measure…

(Photo credit OMG!Yahoo) I've said it before and I'll say it again...Carrie Underwood is human perfection! She can do no wrong when it comes to fashion... she always secures a top 3 best dressed position in my book. πŸ˜‰

Who did you think was the best dressed at the ACM’s this year?
