April Favorites

Over the past month I’ve picked up a bunch of new products; more so than normal. I though it’d be appropriate to do an April favorites post and share five of my newest faves with you. Enjoy!

1) Neutrogena Body Oil

My Mom swears by this product and picked up a bottle for me to try. It is applied to your entire body immediately after you get out of the shower. The oil is light, but effective. It combines with the water on your body and soaks into the skin to help keep it hydrated all day long. It is not greasy, and the scent is actually pleasant. My favorite part is that it makes moisturizing much quicker, and easier!

New fan! 🙂

2) Sally Hansen Maximum Growth Cuticle Pen

You may know about my obsession with cuticle oil, balm, and moisturizer products if you read one of my older posts– but I have found another one to add to the list! My Sephora cuticle pen ran out a while ago and I had yet to make a trip to the mall to replace it. The other day while at CVS I noticed this product and decided to give it a try. I am so excited about it because it works just as well- if not better than the Sephora brand (and it’s $5 cheaper)! 😉 This pen actually expels oil, as opposed to the oily/cream from the other pen. I really love it, and have been using it so many times per day that I may have to get another one soon!

I highly suggest you pick one up!

3) Garnier BB Cream Skin Renew Miracle Skin Perfector

Sometimes magazine samples are worth trying!

I received a sample size of this product in my most recent issue of Cosmopolitan. I rarely if ever actually try these products, but I was curious about this one. I’m so glad I got the opportunity, because this cream is incredible! The product itself looks like a heavy foundation, but wears like a tinted moisturizer…only it’s hand’s down one of, if not the best tinted moisturizer I’ve yet to use! The coverage is phenomenal, and lasts all day long. I have my go-to foundation favorites,  but I will definitely be using this product for the time being. 🙂

(I cannot wait to do a review on this product so you can see!)

4) NYC Liquid LipShine “Fashion Avenue Fuchsia 579”

I recently posted a review of 4 pink lip products, and have been using this particular one religiously. It has the perfect amount of color for everyday use, it has a decent lifespan on the lips, and it smells so, SO yummy which never hurts! 😉 It was really affordable and is definitely a new favorite!

5) Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer

I have to give credit to my roommate who actually found this first! We’re always looking for new at home tanning products and this one happens to have been a keeper. Before bed, wash and exfoliate your face, apply this lotion evenly, go to sleep, and wake up tan. It’s as simple as that- it seriously works wonders.

Just make sure you wash your hands after applying**

Pop of Patriotic Color

I work full time for a PR & Marketing agency, luckily we don’t have to wear suits or full blown business attire everyday, but we can’t get too crazy, so I’m always trying to mix casual, professional, and fashionable by adding a pop of color or fun accessories to my outfits! The other day I had a nice combination, which left me feeling somewhat patriotic; check it out…

Baby blue gap sweater & grey slacks with pops of red 🙂 (I also match our garbage can... lol)
Red snakeskin watch with small diamond details, and a red woven belt.
These cutesy, victorian, girly Manolo Blahnik heels that my boss snagged for me at a tent sale 🙂
The heel is super short and they're incredibly comfortable 🙂
Simple hair and makeup (obviously I had time to do my hair this morning ;)), my Bare Minerals READY eye shadow palette has been my go to lately. And of course...pink lips! 😉
Always have to end with a shot of the mani! I've been rocking a Gelish french manicure all week 😉

How do you try to mix fun & color into your work wardrobe?

Pucker Up! Pretty Pink Lips

I love makeup as much as the next girl, but I’ve never been one to spend a lot of money for it…especially when it comes to trends.

Right now I am loving bright pink lips! Over the past few weeks I’ve picked up four different lip sticks/stains/balms and glosses…all available in nearly every drugstore, and all under $15! Check out my new favorites…

(Left to right) NYC Liquid LipShine, Soft Lips Tinted Lip Balm, COVERGIRL Lipslicks, and COVERGIRL Outlast Lip Color

1)

COVERGIRL LipSlicks Lip Gloss "Princess 110" ($5.99 at my local grocery store)
It appears much more sheer on my lips than I thought it would, I would suggest using it over a darker pink lipstick if you want it to pop- I think it's too light to stand on it's own, but a great product for every day use or when lounging.

2)

NYC Liquid Lip Shine "Fashion Avenue Fuchsia 579" ($2.99 at CVS)
I LOVE this gloss, it smells like cake or something of the sort, SO yummy. Its a great gloss, and is dark enough to stand on it's own...I think it's a tad darker in person...this picture doesn't really do it justice.

3)

Soft Lips Tinted Lip Balm "Pearl" ($3.99 at Walmart)
This lip balm wears so light...almost white, which is too light for me. However, I have used it over a red lipstick and that combination creates a phenomenal shimmery pink color.

4)

COVERGIRL Outlast All Day Lip Color "Rose Pearl 547" ($12.49 at CVS)
I'm a huge fan of the Outlast Lip products, I swear they really do last and have a huge selection of colors. This pink is my favorite product out of every one in this post! I'm not sure why the picture appears red/orange...but the pink color is absolutely perfect.

Even Khloe Kardashian is rocking the hot pink lips!

I snapped this picture of Khloe on WWHL Sunday night. I was loving her hair/makeup/outfit- she looked amazing! 🙂

Foundation Favorites

My skin has had it’s ups and downs. I never had problems with acne until I got to college. My sophomore year was the worst, I honestly spent weekends locked inside my dorm room, refusing to go a-n-y-wh-e-r-e! (I’ll have to post about how I beat acne, and my skincare routine soon!)

I’ve been lucky that past couple of years, I’ve found a way to maintain a clear complexion. However, I am still concerned when selecting new makeup to put on my face.

I don’t like feeling, or looking like a cake face, nor do I like to wear a lot of makeup. Luckily, after much trial and error I’ve found the perfect foundation products, and wanted to share!

Full Coverage:

Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Liquid Foundation (Beige). $13 CVS

This foundation applies perfectly even and has amazing all-day coverage.  I’ve used it for about 7 months, and just had to pick up a new bottle! I love that the liquid dispenses through a pump & I feel that I get the best coverage when I apply it with my hands as opposed to a brush or sponge.

Benefit's "Some Kind-a Gorgeous" (Medium) $30 Sephora

I love this oil to cream powder foundation for daytime, or weekends… any time I’m running out quickly and don’t want to apply a full face of make up. It’s applied with a sponge and has phenomenal coverage, however, it does not hold up well for a full day.

While it is fairly pricey, I’ve heard rave reviews from dozens of people about the Laura Mercier Silk Cream Foundation, I have yet to try it, but I definitely want to pick it up at some point.

Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation $42 Sephora

Light Coverage:

Benefit "You Rebel" tinted moisturizer $30 Sephora

I absolutely love tinted moisturizers, and Benefit’s “You Rebel” is perfect for the Summer months when I have a natural tan and just need to even out my skin. Clearly I’ve worked my way through a tube of this stuff as well!

Now don’t be fooled, not all tinted moisturizers work that well, “You Rebel” is $30.00 but it is worth every penny! When I ran out, I tried to find a cheap drugstore brand to tide me over until I made a trip to Sephora, so I picked this up…

CoverGirl's CG Smoothers tinted moisturizer

It was only $8.00 but it was HORRIBLE! It’s basically a tint-less moisturizer…no coverage what-so-ever, and it appears very streaky on my face.

Sometimes it’s worth spending a little more money…especially when it comes to makeup.

What are your favorite foundations?

Achieve a perfectly healthy at-home tan year round!

I am a self proclaimed tan-o-holic! It is a known fact that my mood is significantly improved when I have a tan.  My roommate shares the same philosophy, and we go above and beyond to achieve the perfect at-home tan…many times leaving us a bit orange and a tad dirty looking, however, we’re not too phased.

Halloween last year- My roommate Lauren on the left, myself on the right, and some girl dressed as Snooki in the middle whose attempt to be super tan was basically lost standing between the two of us.

I stopped tanning in the beds for the obvious fact that it’s not good for my skin, and I was having weird headaches and chest pains which I attributed to the UV lights… since they’ve since ceased. So I’ve been a tanning product junkie lately!

I have tried nearly every self tanning spray, lotion, foam, towel, and mist there is, but here are the two products that I swear by:

For my face, I refuse to use ANYTHING but the Neutrogena Micromist! (I use shade #3 -DEEP)

I usually mist my face at night before bed, since it takes a while for the color to set. You'll wake up with the perfect amount of bronze and it won't wash off in the shower the next morning!
FYI- When applying to your face, mist horizontally across your face starting at your forehead and going down your neck, do NOT spray this into your hands first like the directions say!

For my body, I still prefer the Jergens Natural Glow body lotion in Medium to Dark skin tones…

I apply this lotion at night as well, since it takes a while for the color to set in. Tip- wash hands with soap and warm water immediately after applying to avoid orange palms and fingers!

I prefer the above products because they are not for one time use, and last the longest on my skin without washing out.

My runner ups:

The lotion on the left is alright, it's a bit too orange and it has a serious shimmer- too much for my face. The pump gel on the right is great for instant color, I use it when I'm going out and need a serious pick me up. Wash hands REALLY well if you use either of these products *SUPER ORANGE*

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THESE….

This spray doesn't work that well, and it smells AWFUL!
I don't feel that the foam has the same effect as the Jergens Natural Glow lotion, you also totally lose out on the moisturizer factor.
This product had two pumps that released two foams simultaneously; one was a moisturizing foam, and the other was the pigment. Sometimes they both failed to work, and would get a bit messy. I wouldn't recommend.

I  tried one tan towel a while ago, but cannot remember the brand. I wasn’t a huge fan, but I have heard many people rave about them- if you have a good recommendation of one, let me know!

If you still feel like you could use a boost of color- don’t skimp out on the bronzer!

I have a variety of bronzers- I love my Hoola best! 🙂
