Blogmas 2014 – Day 10: Holiday Nail Art

Happy Blogmas Day 10! So excited to have made it to the double digits! It’s been a bit difficult to get a new post up each day, but I’ve been having fun with it 🙂

As many of you know, I am a nailpolish junkie. I’m always checking out the work of the fabulous manicur-ARTISTS around the world. I’m not huge on nail art, I’m more of a clean and classic mani kind of girl, but every once in a while (especially around the holidays) I love to see what people are doing to spice up their manicures.

Today, I wanted to showcase some of the simple, but beautiful holiday art that’s gotten me inspired lately!

Are you into nail art?

Have you seen a beautiful holiday mani lately?

Blogmas Day 2014 – Day 7: Snag Her Style – Kim Kardashian (Christmas Edition)

I’ve been so bad at daily blogging this weekend – I feel like I’ve been running all over the place the last couple of days!

I’m determined to keep up with Blogmas, so tonight I thought I’d do a quick Christmas Edition of Snag Her Style! Between work, family, and friends, most of us have quite a few holiday parties to attend in the upcoming weeks. I wanted to dupe an outfit that was both classy, comfortable, and of course, affordable!

Love her or hate her, you cannot deny Kim Kardashian’s flawless style. If nothing else, the girl knows how to pair, style, accessorize, and just wear clothes (well, most of the time she’s wearing clothes lol).

I really wanted to dupe this simple holiday look of hers from a couple of years ago:

Kim

I’m a huge fan of comfortable & forgiving ensembles – this outfit is just that! I was so excited to be able to put together something very similar. Here’s how you can snag the style 🙂 –>

Blogmas 2014 – Day 6 – DIY: Festive Diaper Wreath

Helloooo! Happy Blogmas Day 6 🙂

I have a fun Christmas/baby-related craft to share today!

I’m going to a holiday-themed baby shower tomorrow and I wanted to (attempt to) make a festive diaper wreath to bring along with my gift. I found an awesome tutorial online – and followed the instructions … for the most part.

Below are my step by step instructions 🙂

Obviously had to make a cup of cocoa in my favorite mug before I got started :)
I obviously had to make a cup of cocoa in my favorite mug before I got started 🙂

Alright, here we go!

Materials needed: Diapers, thick ribbon, thin ribbon, cardboard cutouts (I used cake plates), hot glue gun, scissors, tape, and a not pictures box cutter
Materials needed: Diapers, thick ribbon, thin ribbon, 2 cardboard cutouts (I used cake boards), hot glue gun, scissors, tape, and a (not pictured) box cutter
I traced a small paper plate in the center of the cardboard to be cut out
The center of the cardboard needed to be removed. To do so, I traced a small paper plate in the center cut it out with my box cutter.  I did this to both pieces.
Hot glue popsicle sticks to one side of the cardboard for added support

Hot glue the two pieces of cardboard together

Time to start wrapping diapers! I used scotch tape to secure each one.

Wrap & glue a piece of the thick ribbon around the diaper
Wrap & hot glue a piece of the thick ribbon around each diaper
So my cardboard donut was too small & wouldn't allow me to get the diapers very close together
At this point I ran into my first issue. My cardboard donut was too small & wouldn’t allow me to get the diapers very close together #FAIL
small
So I rolled a few diapers much tighter so that they could be used to fill in the empty spaces.
So I rolled a bunch of tighter diapers to fill in the blank spaces. I did not secure them in place - I used the smaller ribbon to do so. Here's how: hot glue the end of the ribbon strand to the back of the cardboard. Then weave it over and around each diaper until you've gone around the entire donut. Then secure a new strand of ribbon to the back and weave/wrap it around each donut again - just in the opposite direction to achieve the X.
(Apologies in advance for the lack of photos for these steps) First, I hot glued the large diapers to the cardboard base, then placed the smaller diapers on top to fill the bare spaces (I did not secure them). From here, hot glue the end of the ribbon strand to the back of the cardboard and begin to weave/wrap it over and around each diaper until you’ve gone around the entire donut. Then secure a new strand of ribbon to the back and weave/wrap it around each donut again – just in the opposite direction to achieve the X.
Glue gun casualties.
Nasty glue gun casualties.
Make a bow out of the big ribbon & ta-da! I bought a santa teether/rattle to hang in the middle :)
Tie a large piece of the big ribbon around the back to create a bow. I decided to buy a santa teether/rattle to hang in the middle  to spruce it up.

And taa-daaa! How cute is this!? If it weren’t made of diapers I would totally make one for my apartment!

This was a really fun project (minus the injuries) and I would totally recommend making one for a friend or family member who has a new baby this holiday season!

Have you made a diaper wreath before?

Any suggestions for non-diaper material I could use to make another one?

XOXO

Blogmas 2014 – Day 4 – Hair, Coffee, Target :)

Happy Blogmas Day 4 …and (as you’ll read this) Friday Eve! 🙂

Soo, I chopped off all of my hair last week. I’ve wanted to do it for a few months now, so I just bit the bullet and decided to go for it. I asked my stylist to cut an angled bob (which I’ve always wanted to try) and I’m glad I did it, because I don’t think I’ll ever do it again ha. I’ve been having so much trouble styling it! It’s way too short in the back, so I’ve been rocking a little nub ponytail basically every day (except Thanksgiving) since. This morning, I attempted to curl it and totally failed. It had potential, but I ran out of experiment time before work.

Left is the day I chopped it - it looks fine from the front, but the back is basically at the nape of my neck. Right is my sad attempt to curl it in 10 minutes this morning LOL. I used a regular clamp iron and burned my face/neck 6 times or so hah. I think I'll try my wand next time. I need some volume up top!!
Left is a picture from last week on the day I chopped it  – it looks fine from the front, but the back basically lies at the nape of my neck – it’s like 1″ long from scalp to tip – a little drafty. I initially wanted to go shorter! My stylist said we’d start here & could always cut more – thank goodness for her. Right is my sad attempt to curl it in 10 minutes this morning LOL – honestly, what even is this?! I used a 1/2″ regular clamp iron which I never use, but I thought it may be easier – after burning my my face/neck a few times, I was proven wrong lol. I think I’ll try my wand next time. I need some volume up top!! Like, why is it all flat like that?! Hahahaha, oohh, I can’t. (Insert laughing/crying emoji – wordpress should really get an emoji plugin. Maybe they do? Let me know if you have emojis!)

After the sad hair attempt – I just put it up into my trusty little nub pony, and made a cup of the yummiest coffee before work.

I just picked up these mocha swirl kcups - which are AMAZING!

The coffee was SO good that I tweeted Folgers – it’s always fun to get a tweet back 😉

...they tweeted back. I freaking love Twitter.
I love Twitter.

Fast forward through my day at work…it was busy, but productive. I had to run a ton of errands which is always a nice way to break up the day.

After work I met up with one of my girlfriends, Steph, for some margaritas. I love when we go out – we’re very similar in a lot of ways (personally/socially), but she also works for a marketing company, so we totally get each other. Everytime we get together we always end up staying out way too late & chatting about life, work, goals, dreams, and whatnot… it’s nice to have a girlfriend like that!

After dinner, we ended up popping into Target… because who doesn’t love a trip to Target?!

I have no ideas
Why all of the carts are just hanging in the middle of the store – I have no idea.
Side note - I really wish I fit into children's clothes. Or had a cute little girl to dress up. One dayyy! :)

With Margarita brain, I couldn’t help picking up a couple of fun holiday-ish things..

Im a sucker for a day planner. Ive used one since middle school. Ive bought
I’m a sucker for a cute day planner. I really don’t like my mobile calendar, it’s just not the same as having a physical one. My 2014 planner is in its last month so I’ve been on the hunt! I saw some really fun ones at Target on Black Friday & almost took one home, but passed because the check out lines were just too long. I’m really glad I did though, because I hadn’t seen this one! I was sold in a heartbeat – I’m so in love with it. It’s my most fabulous planner to date 🙂

Today was a really good day, but I’m happy to be in bed and watching a cheesy Lifetime/Hallmark movie. I have to be up really early to meet a client tomorrow morning so I hope to pass out soon!

I hope everyone has a great Friday Eve! The weekend is almost here 🙂

What is your favorite Kcup flavor? I love trying out new ones!

Do you prefer to use a physical calendar or a mobile one? Or do you just live life planner-free? 😉

XOXO

Blogmas 2014 – Day 3 – Christmas Music + FREE Download

Happy Blogmas Day 3!

I’ve been writing my posts at night (with updates from that day/day before) and scheduling them to post first thing the next morning. So today’s post is sort of / technically about events from yesterday. If that makes sense? I hope that works! I’m honestly just trying to keep up 😉

Alright, let me set the scene…

Ramen
I’m currently watching RHOBH, burning a new vanilla candle & eating my weakness of a meal – creamy ramen! I never ate this stuff in college, but now I craveee it!

Work has been so busy this week! With the mini-Thanksgiving break last week, and being away in Florida the week before, a lot of projects have been piling up. I kind of like being busy though – it definitely makes the day go by faster.

After work I made a trip to Walmart to pick up a laundry list of things I needed…

Some holiday polishes may have fallen into that "needed" category too..
Some holiday polishes may have fallen into that “needed” category

…then I headed home to get cracking on the longest to-do list ever so I could relax for RHOBH 🙂

Although I'm currently
I’m watching RHOBH while also staring at this obnoxious pile of clean laundry that needs to be folded. #theWORST

So enough with my random musings…today I have something fun to share! If you’ve read my blog before or follow me on social media, you may know that my boyfriend is an amazing (no, really, an AMAZING) signer! You can check out his YouTube channel here.

This year he’s decided to record a mini Christmas CD…or is it an ep? I’m not sure, but he covered four classic holiday songs & has made them available for FREE download on his SoundCloud. Go DL a copy & enjoy – it’ll definitely help get you into the holiday spirit! 🙂

Fun fact: I took this picture ;)
Fun fact: I took this picture 😉

Speaking of Christmas songs…I’m going to end this post on a fun note (no pun inteded). The night of Thanksgiving, my parents, my aunt, my brother, his girlfriend, my sister, and I were driving home together and killing time by singing the 12 Days of Christmas – we had a little trouble…

That video cracks me up!!

We finally got it (thank you google), and were able to finish the song! You have to hear my brother’s take on “5 golden rings” …

Too funny!

What is your your favorite holiday song?

XOXO
