So, for gosh, like 15 years, my family has been vacationing in Cape May, NJ for a week each Summer. It is one of my all time favorite places to visit, it is so charming & relaxing, I truly look forward to the trip each year. I wanted to chronicle our vaca this year, so here are some photos that I snapped while away last week!
First up – my vaca mani! Spy any ghosts?…anyone?…anyone??? …..Do you recognize this guy from Ghost Hunters?! I didn’t either, but he’s on the show!We sat in a dark basement and tried to get in touch with “Ester” and all the other spirits. No such luck that night.However, we did luck out and made it to DQ to get our once a year brownie earthquake before they closed.Yummy breakfast before we left!Mmm – snacking in the car 🙂We had to pick up our little Lily when we got home – she’s so excited when we pick her up after vaca 🙂

Okay, totally tacky post title, but you’ll see how it’s relevant 😉
I went to a wedding over the weekend, and had little time to put an outfit together. It was a day wedding, so I didn’t need to dress too formal. I was on a time crunch and a budget, see how it all came together below 🙂
I went shoe shopping for some fun new heels, but was completely out of luck! Nearly every store was stocked with wedges, or ginormous, chunky, color-blocked heels. Neither of which was the look I wanted to go with. I went back home and decided my leopard print heels would do just fine. (When I told my boyfriend I was just going to wear these shoes he said “Aren’t animal print shoes trashy?” HA! I told him no, a hint of animal print is completely in style, and he would be surprised by how well they’ll work with the outfit.) A told you so moment 😉
Side note- I tweeted a picture of these shoes a while ago and was asked where I got them, and I honestly don’t remember! They’re actually are over 6 years old- I wore them to my High School graduation ceremony! lol
The dress had a high neck, so I was debating whether or not I should wear a necklace. Ultimately, it seemed too plain so I opted to wear these chunky warm toned & gold beads which I’ve had for a while- I swear, it’s a magic necklace, it compliments so many different outfits, and worked perfectly with the orange dress!
I needed a bracelet, or cocktail ring, and chose this brownish/gold ring that my roommate bought me for Christmas. It was the perfect finishing touch.
Of course you need a smaller clutch or bag, so I opted to carry my DKNY leather bag which I ‘m still in love with. (I told you I’d get some good use out of it- no buyers remorse ;))
I wanted to do something different with my nails. As you know I picked up the rest of the Gelish Candyland Collection a couple of weeks ago, so thought it’d be the perfect time to try out ‘Don’t Be Such a Sourpuss’. At first I hated it, it looked too green, but in natural light it is a really pretty yellow. I’ve actually been getting a lot of compliments on it. Who would have thought? 🙂
I broke my thumb nails so I decided ditch the square shape and round everything off for a couple of weeks. I kind of like the round look 🙂 (sorry for the greasy nails; I had just applied some cuticle oil lol)
My toes I painted with the fabulous Sally Hansen Insta-Dri orange polish that Ashely sent to me in the secret blogger swap. I love it! I can’t wait to use it on my fingernails as well.

I was very happy with how well everything came together (and the fact that I didn’t spend any money). It pays to buy a couple of extra dresses you love if you randomly find them on sale!

How is everyone doing? I am so excited to get away for the holiday weekend with some friends, and am looking forward to a stress-free trip! I recently visited my local Sallys Beauty Supply and was thrilled to see that they were selling all six colors in the Gelish Candyland Collection for a reduced price!
As you know I already own the two pink shades ‘Sugar N Spice & Everything Nice’ and ‘You’re So Sweet You’re Giving Me A Toothache’, but I was hesitant to purchase the others at the time because Gelish polish is a bit pricey, and they weren’t really colors that I would wear very often. However, now that they were on sale, I couldn’t resist!
I picked up the remaining four colors in the Candyland Collection; ‘Orange Cream Dream’, ‘Don’t Be Such a Sourpuss’, ‘You’re Such a Sweet-Tart’, and ‘Sugar Daddy’.
I figured that this weekend would be a great time to try out one of my new polishes… but I need you to help me choose which one!

After about a 3 week hiatus, I am back on my gel manicures! I was missing my long lasting, shiny, strong manicures. After posting about the new Gelish Candy Land Collection I was dying to pick up their new yellow shade “Don’t Be Such a Sourpuss”.
They were nearly out! They had one of each color, except for "You're So Sweet, You're Giving Me a Toothache" which luckily, I already had!
I was so excited that there was one left…it appeared to be a pastel-yellow, but when I took a closer look, it was much more Frenchs Mustard-ish…with a hint of shimmer. I was so bummed, I didn’t end up getting it 🙁
I don't think I'd care to look at this color on my nails for 2 weeks lol
This Sallys had a poor selection of Gelish colors in general, so I didn’t end up buying anything new. I got home and decided to work with colors I already had.
I chose to work with Gelish Starburst and Rendezvous.
I used Rendezvous, a deep magenta/pink on all of my fingers except for my thumb, and ring finger…which were painted with Starburst.
I'm not sure that I love these colors together, but it was something different! (Rendezvous isn't as red as this picture would suggest)Day 5: Still chip free and shiny 🙂 (Oh I've missed manis that last longer than 2 days!) This shows a more realistic shade of "Rendezvous"
UPDATE: (I like to note the longevity of my gel manicures) I tweeted a picture of my manicure on day 11…it was still holding up, but I am really ready for a change.
Even though I have been on a gel-hiatus the past couple of weeks, it hasn’t stopped me from stocking up on new polishes. My preferred brand of gel nail polish, Gelish, recently came out with its Spring 2012 Candy Land Collection, and I couldn’t resist these new colors!

“Sugar N’ Spice and Everything Nice”…
and “You’re So Sweet You’re Giving Me a Toothache”…
These colors are perfect for the Spring! I’ve worn both already- I can’t decide which is my favorite… “You’re So Sweet..” is basically the gel equivalent to Essie’s FIJI- one of my all time favorite colors .

My current lilac manicure color would fit perfectly into this gel collection! If only… sigh.
