Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween!!!!

One of my favorite holidays πŸ™‚

You can be sure that I will be wearing my black and orange today AND indulging in all things Halloween. I wish I could say I’d be passing out candy tonight, but 3 years ago, my roommate & I learned the hard way when we bought 12 lbs of candy in anticipation of the dozens of children that would be ringing the doorbell at our condo complex…needless to say, we had a whopping Z-E-R-O come by. We ended up feasting on a wide variety of Mars & Hershey products for weeks. Evidence:

Circa 2010: There's the culprit!! See that big orange bowl in the back? We had enough candy to fill it 3x. Noms.

So tonight I plan to bake some treats, watch a couple Halloween classics, and work on my costumes. Eeee!

Can I just tell you how much I LOVE making my costume every year?! I really got into when I was in college. After perusing some of those photos, I’ve opted not to post any pictures because…. well, I’m a working woman. Not that they were anything offensive, or crazy inappropriate, but you know how college goes.Β Regardless, I still loved them – I was really able to tap into my creative side & in turn, now adore this holiday even more!

With that said, I have two costumes this year! I will write a post about them sometime next week since I won’t be wearing either until the weekend. I’m really excited about them for many reasons, one being that I’ve never personally seen anyone wear either πŸ™‚

Here’s a sneak peek:

Here’s to hoping they come out okay!!

So, I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Halloween!

Be sure to paint your nails, bake some cookies, dress up, eat lots of caramel apples, carve a pumpkin and watch lots of scary movies today!!

Family Fun: Black Friday

So this year on Black Friday…..I slept in and avoided the madness, because that is not my style lol.

I actually had a lovely day with my Mom & Sister! We decided to run some errands together & grab lunch.

One of my favorite things about going home is that I never have to worry about packing anything cute, because I have full access to my little sisters wardrobe – which gives mine a run for its money. I picked out this great sweater to wear on Friday- it had a pocket in the front and a lace up back! It was so comfortable, I would have definitely taken it home if she hadn’t just bought it lol.

She picked it up on clearance for $3! That’s my girl πŸ˜‰

The three of us went to lunch at O’Neils, a small local spot that we love – they have the yummiest sandwiches!

They completely decked out the restaurant for Christmas πŸ™‚
How cool is this photo that was next to our table? These trees are actually in my hometown!
I got my favorite sandwich: the “Emily” -turkey with lettuce, tomato, cheddar and bacon with thousand island dressing on the softest seven-grain bread. SO good!!

Afterwards, we went shopping to pick up some things to send in a care package to my cousin Donny who is currently serving over seas.

I love this picture of him <3
I love this picture of him <3
Stealing his FB pcis ;)

My Aunt has been collecting items from family members, friends and co-workers to send to his unit, so we picked up some things they’ve been asking for.

Some things in my basket πŸ™‚
How cute is my Mom?! She was picking up some puzzle books
Lot’s of goodies πŸ™‚
…and more goodies!
I didn’t want to neglect the ladies who are over there too! So naturally, I picked up some festive nail polishes πŸ™‚

We had a lot of fun shopping for them!

**Quick pause for a mini Spanish Christmas Jam-Sesh**:

So many delicious snacks!
…and more snacks!
I loved this collar necklace
Katherine modeling a pearl & ribbon necklace from their Christmas collection
I was loving this necklace too!
My sister & cousin
I ended up ordering this choker plated necklace. I really adored it; it is the perfect piece to wear through the holidays!

Black Friday was a lot of fun this year! I never do the crazy early-morning shopping madness thing – I’m more of a cyber Monday chick ;), but it was fun to spend time with my family, shop for others & pick out some jewelry for the holidays!

Family Christmas Tree!

The weekend after Thanksgiving I love putting up the Christmas tree & decorating the house with my Mom & Sister – my Dad & Brother usually opt out…I think they were golfing this year lol. We always play Mariah Carey’s Christmas album, dance around & just enjoy the day. We don’t purchase a real tree anymore, when we were all younger we were insistent on finding the tallest, fullest tree there was – we’ve since invested in a phenomenal pre-lit fake that is just as effective, 80% less the hassle & looks even better!

We took all of the tree decorations out of storage
We had a little trouble with the star LOL
Even Lily got in the spirit!

I love our ornament collection because each one has some kind of memory, joke, or sentiment to it. There are even a few faces on the tree πŸ˜‰

This was a bridal shower gift for my Mom!
This one is so old & chipping away, but it’s still one of my favorites πŸ™‚
How cute is my little sis in her 3 fingered homemade ornament LOL?!!
This one of my brother cracks us all up! He’s suuuuuuch an angel πŸ˜‰
…And that’s me…in 1st grade!
…aaaand Katherine called it quits
All done! So pretty πŸ™‚

Naturally, after all of that work it was manicure time!

Fun Gelish mani on Katherine! Midnight Reflection & Twinkle on her index fingers πŸ™‚

I love spending time at my parents house during the holidays. It’s so warm, festive & comfortable. It’s so darn hard to make my apartment feel that way! …Stay tuned for that post though…we did make an effort!

Do you and your family have a Christmas decorating tradition?

2012 Fall Favorites

Fall is one of my favorite times of year…the colors, smells, food, and fashion- to die! Not so lucky for us on the East Coast, this Fall has been aggressively interrupted by Hurricane Sandy, and most recently this friendly little Nor’easter named Athena. While my state, and town are currently buried in fresh white snow, I wanted to bring it back and remember that regardless of what we may feel…winter is not here yet!

To help get back in the mind set, I picked out some of my absolute favorite things about Fall 2012 thus far- enjoy!

Fall nailpolish! This has been a favorite of mine this season: Essie Bordeaux
This manicure is two coats of Gelish “Sweet Chocolate” with two coats of Essie “Bordeaux” on top. I’m in love with the pairing!
Transitional season jackets! I love this black leather one that I picked up at Marshalls a couple of years ago!
Candles! I burn candles year round, but the Fall scents are my favorites. My go-to’s are Vanilla, Pecan Pie, Fresh Baked Cookies, and Pumpkin Spice πŸ™‚
My midnight snack: Ben & Jerry’s Greek Frozen Yogurt. I am obsessed with their Blueberry Vanilla Graham flavor!
Halloween! This is one of my favorite days of the year! I usually like to get super creative, but kept it simple this year. Here’s the funny thing about our costumes: my boyfriend has to grow his hair out, one night we were playing around with it and he looked JUST like Danny Zuko! So we thought it’d be fun to dress up as Sandy & Danny for Halloween. Before you know it, we were about to get hit with Hurricane Sandy & everyone decided to dress the same in honor of the storm! I didn’t even really care for the costume, we did it all for his hair- which he barely ended up styling LOL. So you’ve heard it here: I did not dress up in honor of Hurricane Sandy, I dressed up to compliment my boyfriends locks!
Belts! I love adding a belt to a plain pair of slacks or around a simple sweater!
My Louis Vuitton πŸ™‚ I got this bag last year & it is so special for many reasons! I carried it right up until the beginning of Spring last year, and then packed it up until Fall- in my opinion it’s far too seasonal to carry throughout the summer! Ever since, I have been itching to take it out again. I think that sometime this week I’ll transfer everything & start carrying it again!
Bath & Body Works Paris Amour hand lotion, Gelish NOURISH cuticle oil, Bare Minerals Pretty Amazing “Fearless” Gloss, and a Revlon nail file. These three items are crucial, the lotion & oil I use at least a dozen times per day- my hands and nails get very dry once the weather starts to get chilly. I must have them on me (in my purse) at all times. πŸ˜‰
Seasonal phone wallpaper. It seems silly, but I always change my phone background with the seasons, holidays, etc. I had a colorful Fall scene for a while, but I just changed it to this gorgeous photo once the snow started coming down today! I know it’s borderline Winter, but I found it on Google a while ago & have been dying to use it. (I believe it was shot by Madeline Bea Photography– she has gorgeous work!)
Big, cozy sweaters! I bought this wrap from H & M in 2007 and still adore it πŸ™‚
Family dinners: Fall is all about cooking! I spent last weekend cooking a mini Pre-Thanksgiving dinner with my Mama. Nothing I love more than spending time with my family πŸ™‚
Everything APPLE! My Apple Crisp pie is hands down my favorite Fall recipe (and always a crowd pleaser!) I’ve already baked two this season & plan on making at least a couple more. Let me know if I should post the recipe!
Half/Oval/Mini-Stiletto Nails: I decided to try a completely new nail shape. I attempted this look almost a year ago & hated it! I decided to give it another shot except this time around I used a different filing technique & am currently in love with these nails! As they slowly grow longer, the pointier I’m able to shape them πŸ™‚ (Polish = Gelish “Black Cherry Berry”)

Those are just a few of my favorite things this season! What are you loving about Fall this year? Let me know πŸ™‚
