It’s been a wild week since Christmas. I couldn’t be any more grateful for having off from work – it has allowed me to enjoy some true quality time with all of the people that I love – hence, being MIA on here since Blogmas. I have so many wonderful pictures and memories from the past two weeks that I want to share on my blog before I get back to work on Monday…but that will have to be my weekend project.
Today, I want to take a brief moment to recap 2014, New Year’s Eve, and my hope’s for 2015…
I can’t believe that we’re already at Blogmas Day 16!
So… today’s post was inspired by current events – particularly the tragedy that happened at a Pakistan school earlier today.
When something that unfathomably tragic happens anywhere in this crazy world, it can shake you up. My mind is brought right to those poor, innocent, children – so undeserving of that violence. The students, educators, bystanders, all 140+ of them. How terrifying for them. How terrifying for our world. It’s an actual nightmare.
Which brings me to my post. A brief blurb about life 🙂
I recently saw a Buzzfeed post “26 Pictures That Will Make You Re-Evaluate Your Entire Existence” that had my brain spinning! You must check it out – it really puts your physical life into perspective.
We are ALL living on this spec of a planet and while it’s fascinating, incredible, and totally mind-blowing what we’ve made of it – it’s also SO unbelievable what kind of hate and violence brews on it. THIS IS LITERALLY ALL WE HAVE.
Why do people feel the need to do such hurtful things to others? Why do people feel the need to commit such heinous crimes? Why do people feel that they are better, more powerful, more important than ANYONE ELSE?! The amount of irrelevancy that our lives hold in comparison to this universe…in the GRAND scheme of things, blows my mind. You, me, this… everything you’ve ever known could be gone in a second. We are THAT small.
Of course there are many things, passions, and people in our lives that we care about. They’re what feeds us. Whether it be family, friends, careers, religion, etc. we all have something that we would give anything for. And that’s the beauty of being an individual. It’s wonderful. However, it’s so important to respect the things, passions, and persons in the lives of others. We must not try to push, convert, undermine, or intentionally harm them. If only we could all just be. Because at the end of the day – we are all we have, all we know. There are things out there that are much bigger than all of us. Than everyone on this entire earth combined. We are ALL on that little spec and we should all want to protect it, and each other – to the best of our ability.
I know this became kind of a downer post, but that horrible news got my mind stirring today. I felt uncomfortable blogging about wrapping paper or nailpolish or Christmas gifts or movies or anything else that is so incredibly fun, fabulous, and festive – but, ultimately irrelevant in life ha.
I hope that everyone has a great night & takes a moment to appreciate the good things, the important things. There is so much to be grateful for.
Back to your regularly scheduled Blogmas tomorrow. 😉
I love everything about October – the pumpkins, the foliage, the candy, the weather, Halloween …I cannot believe that it’s already over! I had such a great month & I wanted to recap some of the festive fun!
October via pictures :)…
October was such a fun month! I definitely didn’t capture everything that happened (and WordPress wouldn’t let me upload a handful of photos), but I thought that I’d share the pictures that I could. 🙂
I’m really looking forward to the next couple of months, I LOVE the holidays. Ahhh, so excited just thinking about it!
Are you looking forward to Thanksgiving/Christmas?
