Hunger Games & Dish N Dat

Last Saturday I was beyond excited to see The Hunger Games!

Who's Team Peeta, who's Team Gale!?

I went with my boyfriend, Mike, and we ran into a couple of my girlfriends…which is always exciting! Personally, I was completely satisfied with the films rendition of the novel. It’s hard to recreate every detail word for word, but what the directors chose to omit was not missed! If you have yet to see this film- GO!

After the movie, we were trying to decide where to go for dinner- Mike insisted on pancakes, but we wanted to go somewhere other than our usual diner. I sent out a tweet asking if anyone knew of any great pancake spots in our area…

This is why I LOVE twitter!

Twitter can be a really useful tool…not only did I find a great spot to get late night pancakes, I ALSO found a new blow dry bar that will be opening in West Hartford! Thank you, Stacey!

We decided to go to Dish N’ Dat, seeing as it wasn’t too far away, and what a cute little spot it was. I can’t believe I’ve never been! You walk in and there is this huge wall of spoons…

So crazy!

The restaurant was basically a fun twist on a traditional diner.

They even had a full bar on the other side of the restaraunt.

So we sit down, and start looking through the ginormous menu…I literally wanted to eat everything, something about a diner menu…

I'm always a breakfast girl 😉

Everything sounded so good. We started with an order of Fried Mac & Cheese balls, neither of us had ever had them…

Has anyone ever had these??

They were so darn delicious, that I had to stop myself from eating half the plate. I’d really be curious to see how they’re made…

YUM!

So dinner came out soon after- I went with their eggs benedict (guilty pleasure) their rendition had spinach in it as well…basically eggs florentine. Even better 🙂

I love when they use the big fluffy english muffins! 🙂

Mike ended up ordering this crazy burger (so much for pancakes!)

I don't know how he ate it...

It was a burger topped with pulled pork, bacon, cheese and lord knows what else. That was just a little too much meat for me…but he loved it!

It was definitely a fun place! I can’t wait to go back…next time we’ll have to order pancakes 😉

Perfect Snow Day

We had a nice little snow storm in Connecticut today. There wasn’t a crazy amount of accumulation (thank the Lord), but it was enough to convince me to stay indoors.

I was so ambitious on Twitter this morning and made a snow day to-do list; I’m proud to say I pretty much accomplished everything I wanted to do…

I started with a workout, gave myself a pedicure (Zoya-Moxie, a really pretty deep pink polish), and cleaned my apartment a bit. Afterwards, I took a hot shower, snuggled up with a mug of hot cocoa and wrapped myself in some cozy throw blankets. I lit my candles and caught up with the pile of US Weekly magazines that was building on my nightstand. I had time to do some blogging and even found some delicious new dessert recipes to try out.

What an incredibly relaxing day! I’m looking forward to eating (maybe cheating?) and watching a movie tonight! 🙂

How did you spend your snow day? Or are you lucky enough to be somewhere warm and snow-free? 😉
